Use one part to learn
A single prototype can confirm fit, assembly access, handling and general geometry before more units are produced. It is especially useful when the design is still changing.

One-Off Prototype or Low-Volume Production?
The best first quantity depends on design maturity, validation needs, unit economics and the risk of changing the part.
Move to a small batch when stable
Low-volume production becomes more suitable after interfaces and requirements are defined. Repeated parts still require agreed materials, process settings and acceptance criteria.
Plan revisions deliberately
Record the approved file revision and identify what must remain controlled. If the application changes, repeat the manufacturing review rather than assuming the previous approach still applies.
