Compare the build. Verify the quality.

General selection guidance, not a list of available models. A material name alone cannot grade a finished paddle. Compare complete samples for your market.

Carbon-fiber faceA strong, lightweight face material; feel depends on the whole construction. [1]Confirm the actual fiber and layup, then test control and texture durability.
Aramid / hybrid faceAramid or mixed-fiber designs offer other ways to tune the paddle. [3]Ask for the layer composition. Verify feel and durability on the finished sample.
Thinner / thicker coreWithin comparable designs, thinner cores often emphasize response; thicker cores often emphasize control. [2]Compare weight, balance and off-center hits. More thickness is not a quality grade.
Molding & edge constructionBonded layers, edge reinforcement and handle construction vary between designs. [3]Check bond integrity, edge attachment and handle strength; a process label is not proof of quality.

UD, 3K / 12K and T700 describe different things.

UD describes a unidirectional fiber layout. K identifies filament count in a tow; a fiber grade such as T700S is a separate specification. These labels do not rank finished paddles. [4] [7]

Ask for evidence you can compare.

  • Agreed weight, dimensions and balance tolerances
  • Surface wear, bonding and repeated-impact results
  • Batch inspection records and an approved reference sample
  • Current tournament status for the exact final brand and model

Agree test methods and acceptance criteria with the supplier. Tournament approval is separate from a durability guarantee. [5] [6]
